2020 July/August    Plein air Painting Class Schedule

 

Week 1. Tuesday, June 30,  6:30-9 pm.  Meet on the WEST side of the Adams State Campus, at the corner of Hwy 160 

(Main St) and Edgemont St.  - across from the Conoco gas station. Park on Edgemont or in the lot across from Conoco.

 

              Thursday,  July 2,  9am to noon.  Meet on the EAST side of the Adams State State Campus. Park in front of Leon Auditorium, where Richardson meets 2nd St.  

 

Week 2. Tuesday, July 7, 6:30-9 pm.    Meet on Riverwood Dr. across from the big pond where the houses end on the 

right side.  Park on the street and set up on the sidewalk for views of the water and sunset. 

   

              Thursday,  July 9,  9am - noon.     Meet on the Levee at the end of LaVeta St.  

From 1st Ave., turn on to LaVeta St. (across from the old Evans Elementary) - go north to the end of the street and park. 

Walk up to the top of the levee for views of the river and sunset .

 

Week 3. Tuesday,  July 14,   6:30-9 pm.   Meet on Craft Dr. just north of Alamosa High School property near the corner of Craft Dr. and Park Ave.   Park on the street for views of water and sunset.

 

               Thursday, July 16,  9am - noon.  Linda Christensen’s house: 2489 Co Rd.107. -Take State St. north out of town, turn left on North River Rd.  Follow the road and stay on the pavement for about 5 miles as it winds around to the north.  

When the road bends distinctly to the left/west the second time, go 1 mile - start looking for Co Rd 107 which will be a dirt road, turn right, Linda’s house is the last house at the end. Turn left into the drive. 

 

Week 4. Tuesday, July 21, 6:30-9 pm.  Bernie’s Garden - Take Hwy 160 east out of town about 2 miles, turn left on Redwing Lane - which is a dirt road just past Harmony Rd.  Bernie’s is the 2nd house on the right -  park in the small lot.  

Go thru the gate into the garden.     

 

               Thursday, July 23,  9am - noon.  Bernie’s Garden.  Directions: same as above. 

Paint sunsets or Mt Blanca from the parking lot or go thru the gate into the garden.

 

Week 5. Tuesday,  July 28, 6:30-9 pm.   Meet at Margaret Jones’ near the corner of County Rd. 6 SO and Hwy 17, behind Splashland. Turn into the drive at the “Jones” sign and park under the trees: views of Blanca and the sunset.

 

                Thursday, July 30, 9am - noon.  Meet at Margaret Jones’.  Directions are the same as above.

 

Week 6. Tuesday,  Aug 4, 6:30-9 pm.   Meet at Blanca Vista Park.  We should get a full moon rising over the water.  Take State St. north out of town, pass Cattails golf course on the left and the parking lot is on the right. 

 

               Thursday, Aug 6,   9am - noon.  Carol Chrysler’s. Take State St. north out of town, turn left on North River Rd.  

Follow the road and stay on the pavement for almost 2 miles as it winds around to the north.  When the road bends distinctly to the left/west, at Road 4.5, turn right. The house is on the NE corner of the intersection - white house, lots of trees:

(8775 County Road 4.5 S).   Turn left into the drive. 

 

Week 7. Tuesday,  Aug 11, 6:30-9 pm.        Levee at the end of LaVeta St.

From 1st Ave., turn on to LaVeta St. (across from the old Evans Elementary) - go north to the end of the street and park. Walk up to the top of the levee: views of the river and sunset.

 

              Thursday,  Aug 13, 9am - noon.   Lily Pond, 2631 S County Road 106. -Take State St. north out of town, turn left on North River Rd.  Follow the road and stay on the pavement for about 6 miles as it winds around to the north. The paved road will make one sharp left, a sharp right, then another sharp left - keep going and make the next sharp right (Road 106). 

The lily pond house is the first house on the left.   Turn left into the drive just after the pond.

 

Week 8. Tuesday,  Aug 18, 6:30-9 pm.  Meet behind Alamosa High school.  Take Craft Dr. north from McDonalds, turn left on Carroll St. right before the High School, then turn right on Maroon Dr.    Park in the High School lot:  views of sunset, city lights and mountains.   

 

               Thursday, Aug 20,    9am - noon.  Rio Grande Farm Park - Take Hwy 160 east out of town, turn left on Hwy 17 and go about 1/4 mile.   Turn left at the Park sign on to the dirt road and continue to the parking lot under the big tree.

 

Rain is always a possibility. No matter WHAT the weather, I will be at the location at the start time and we will go from there.
